Honor, integrity, ambition, balance, and uplift. These are the principles that guide lifelong Atlanta native Joshua B. Butler, IV each day in his professional and philanthropic endeavors. Combining his keen analytical abilities, intrinsic leadership skills, trailblazing spirit, oratorical prowess, and compassionate nature, Joshua has emerged as a renaissance entrepreneur and civic inspiration in his community and to his generation.
Joshua began his foray into the world of entrepreneurship and financial independence at the age of 20. While still in college, Joshua started the first of many successful businesses. Understanding the old adage, “know your audience,” Joshua began a moving and logistics company, University Storage, dedicated to servicing the transient Atlanta college community. Just six years later, Joshua acquired a 20-year old moving and logistics company, merging it with his own self-started business.
Recognizing the need to diversify his business options, Joshua turned to real estate acquisition. Joshua purchased his first apartment building at the age of 25, and later went on to purchase several single family homes, additional apartment buildings, and an office complex.
Always looking for a new challenge and seizing the growing opportunities available in the Atlanta entertainment industry, Joshua became the Chief Financial Officer of Meta Music, Inc. in 1995. In this position, Joshua worked closely with hip-hop artists, Bubba Sparxxx, Pastor Troy, TLC, and Outkast. Under his direction, Meta Music, Inc. also played a major role in producing the soundtrack for Tom Hanks’ hit 2004 movie, The Ladykillers. In 2005, Joshua founded Yashin Corporation, a full service multi-media, music, and entertainment company. He worked with music artists such as Neyo and Wyclef Jean and high profile business clients such as BET and the Hooters Restaurant chain to produce, direct, shoot, and edit television segments, documentaries, videos, promotional materials, and websites.
While building his highly successful for-profit real estate and multi-media/entertainment businesses, Joshua has never forgotten the importance of giving back to his community. With the belief that each of his projects should “uplift mankind,” Joshua consistently works with several projects that benefit both the immediate local Atlanta area and other communities across the country. For example, in 2005, Joshua initiated the first Atlanta Dream Ride and Concours for Kids, an annual fundraiser that provides essential financial support to children with terminal cases of cancer and gives the kids and their families a much needed afternoon of fun cruising the streets of Atlanta in exotic and luxury sports vehicles. One parent told Joshua that he gave her
child “the best day of his life before he passed.”
